BLACK IN SCIENCE POLICY SYMOPOSIUM

The Black in SciPol virtual symposium will offer an opportunity for early career scientists and technologists to learn about science and technology policy, and hear from experts working in industry, government, and non-profits on how to jump start your scipol career!

We are pleased to announce an upcoming week of panels and workshops focused on science and technology policy for early career researchers.  The Black in Scipol virtual symposium will take place August 12-15, 2024 and will focus on providing the resources and networks to kick start science and technology policy careers! 

The week will feature sessions that will provide an introduction to the field of science and technology policy, an expert panel with science and technology policy practitioners, an interactive  workshop to build your science policy skills, and an expert panel on how to get involved in science and technology policy now! We are excited to bring people together for this symposium to help them jump start their careers in science and technology policy. 

Early career researchers in science and technology-related disciplines are invited to attend, including undergraduate, graduate students in master’s, PhD, MD, PharmD, or similar degree programs; recent graduates; postdocs/fellows; and early-career employees.  We also encourage those who do not have a science background but are interested in the field to attend.

Science Policy 101 offers an introductory overview of the intersection between science and public policy, highlighting key principles, frameworks, and the importance of evidence-based decision-making. Participants will gain foundational knowledge to understand the science policy landscape.
